In focus: Interview with employees

Today we would like to introduce a very special employee: Rene Dolpp, 67 years old and born in Zurich. He moved to Germany at the age of five and lived in Augsburg from then on. He has actually been enjoying his well-deserved retirement since 2020, but that hasn't stopped him from working at Lenz&Gomez to finance his passion project in Africa.

Rene has no children of his own, but his wife, who is originally from Nairobi, Kenya, brought three daughters into the partnership, who now have children of their own. Together they enjoy six grandchildren. His partner came to Augsburg in 1991 and together they decided to build a house in Nairobi. Their story is impressive: starting with a tin hut in Africa, they now have a beautiful home of their own in Nairobi.

Rene started working at Lenz&Gomez during his retirement, having previously worked in production for 38 years. The flexibility offered to him at Lenz&Gomez enabled him to combine his passion and his profession. This allowed him to fly to Africa for weeks or even months at a time to fulfill his dream of owning his own home in his wife's hometown. On site in Nairobi, the couple are completely self-sufficient with a large vegetable and fruit garden. His wife has also enjoyed the decisive flexibility of Lenz&Gomez for many years, enabling her to get involved in a wide variety of projects in Africa.

At the beginning of the year, there was widespread flooding in Nairobi with serious consequences. Rene and his wife collected donations for the local flood victims at the Ulrichskirche church in Augsburg. The money raised was used to buy food and other essentials and distribute them to the people affected. Rene is now planning to go back to Africa for a year to enjoy his self-built house and live his dream in Africa.

It is with a smile and a tear in our eye that we say goodbye to our valued employee Rene Dolpp, who left us in June to enjoy his retirement. We wish him all the best for the future and continued success with his projects in Africa.
